Malbork

The one place I was looking forward to visiting was Malbork Castle, located right outside of Gdansk.

Again this is somewhere I read a great deal about in my Poland book. It was the home of the Teutonic knights that terrorized Poland in the name of religion. However their castle was legendary.

Parts of which took over 100 years to build, and then like many other treasures in this country, was burned to the ground by the Nazis before they left the country.

Again, most of the structures here are reconstructions from the original. What I'm thinking at this point is that if they are just going to reconstruct everything in this country they should have rebuilt them all in one place! This way you can easily see everything without having to travel all over... Well, it's just a thought.
