I took an overnight bus (8PM - 9AM!) from Gdansk, out of Poland, into Lithuania. We arrived in the capital city of Vilnius bright and early. I used the services of the friendly tourist office in the train station to find a hotel that I highly recommend. It was close to the station, but not too far from all the action. The Mikotel was cheap, clean, friendly and very helpful.

One thing that impressed me right off was the length and modernity of it's main shopping street. It's a very long "Old Town" that spills into a more modern thoroughfare.

This felt more European than other cities so far in this trip.
