I took an overnight train from Latvia to St. Petersburg.
My second sleeper car experience this trip. This time
I had a roommate. A Russian kid who was nice, but spoke
little
English so we had basically no communication.
So far I've felt safe and comfortable in the sleeper
cars. There are locks on the inside of the doors so no
one could come into your car. And I was lucky enough
that
this was the only time I'd even had one person in the
car with me. There also were bins under the bed where
you
can put stuff. So for anyone to steal anything they would
have to lift your bed to get at it!
The service was good too. They came around with drinks
and light food as part of the ticket price and supplied
your cabin with fresh water.
The train was an old Soviet era
train like out of a spy movie. Upon walking into
the train the first thing I'm hit with is a coal burning
stove! In the passenger compartment?!
But it was a smooth ride with little trouble at the border.
They had some questions, but I didn't know what they
were saying and they just ignored it.
