Pushkin, Russia

The next day I decided to make my way out to the suburb of Pushkin to Catherine's summer palace.

However, my guide book was completely wrong about how to get there. I spent a couple of hours waiting for busses that don't exist and asking for directions in my best Russian.

All the while being laughed at by Stalin, shown here, as I crossed back and forth, with my sad, flapping broken umbrella, through this square looking for the right bus.

Finally I found the bus I needed. Then with the windows all fogged up on this rainy day, I missed the stop I was supposed to get off at.

Barely communicating with the driver he directed me to another bus and got the driver to take me where I needed to be.

I later learned that many other tour books were wrong about directions to the burbs. Double check with someone where you are going because things change so much that the Rough Guide and Lonely Planet both had misinformation.
